Helgoland

Part of the German state of Schleswig-Holstein since 1890, the island of Heligoland is located about 69 km off the German coast.

Its 60-metre-high cliffs are the ideal breeding ground for the Gannet. This seabird only comes ashore to breed. It spends the rest of the year at sea. To catch fish, it makes spectacular diving flights.
